i understand this is a game jam game, and made with only c++ and no game engine, but the game definitely feels unfinished, and i think this was probably used for testing purposes, but pressing down gives you 100 coins instantly, and you just forgot to remove it for the game jam build, and also, the hit detection on the coins and other cars does seem a bit too large
i think something that would be really cool for a full version of this game to have is looping tracks, with cars driving the opposite direction as you, and you have to survive going around the track, collecting as many coins as possible, and completing as many laps as possible
but considering the context this was made, being a game jam and not using a game engine, this is pretty impressive :3
I did the whole development just today, because today I discovered the Jam. When you press down, you get 100 Coins, that was for testing, and I forgot to remove it '-' The Collision System is pretty rushed btw. Interesting game mode idea and as said in the description of the Game, it will be continued developing, but I also have work and do this in my freetime :) Thank you for the last sentence :D and for the comment and detailed feedback. THANKS :)
Edit: The whole project is open-source, you can take a look at it on GitHub (https://github.com/Mad-Mushroom/Pixel-Racer)
Also on GitHub there will be new releases, but I will of course create a new game on itch.io for future versions. I will take in the next few days a break from game developing, but after that, I'll start reworking the code and implementing new features :)
it was made in one day too?! i'm not sure how long this jam usually lasts, but the fact you made this in one day is especially impressive now
and of course! i like to give constructive criticism when i can, and i know i'll eventually have to face it too because my goal for this year is to finally start developing games myself
seriously, given your limitations, this is really impressive, and i know c++ is one of the harder languages to learn, so seriously, good job!
Thanks, cool if you wanna start making games by your own :D
The Jam usually lasts 3 days :}
Yeah, C++ is kinda hard to learn, but once you get it, it's a beauty! Learn C++, its my favourite language :)
Could you please rate the Game at the Jam.
(Rate it as you like, but just rate it pls :) )
oh yeah, of course! sorry for taking a while, i had to go to work shortly after my last comment
edit: i'm trying, but it says i can't rate it as i didn't submit an entry to the jam myself, sorry qwq, it only says i can leave a comment
Oh, no problem. I mean it's not your fault :))
